This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

US industry is being encouraged to pursue the Latin American market before it is nudged out by China, South Korea and Europe. At HIMA's emerging markets conference in December, Jon Huenemann, deputy assistant US trade representative for Western hemisphere affairs, told the meeting that Chinese delegations had visited the region 14 times in the last 18 months. China, South Korea and the EU are all aggressively looking for partners in the region and the US must act quickly if it is not to miss the "big game opportunities", he said.
