Pseudoephedrine lawsuit

Executive Summary

Pfizer, Perrigo and other pseudoephedrine manufacturers are named in a wrongful death suit filed by the widow of an Oklahoma state trooper killed by a methamphetamine addict in 2003. The complaint, filed Dec. 22 in Oklahoma district court, claims that the defendants were negligent due to their awareness of the ingredient's diversion into meth production. The firms "have known and should have known that a significant part of their cold medicine sales are generated directly from drug addicts and street dealers seeking to buy large quantities of pseudoephedrine medicines to be easily converted into illegal meth." Other companies named include: Leiner, LNK, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Dollar General and United Supermarkets of Oklahoma. The suit also charges the convicted murderer with assault and battery...
