Reacquires Durban, South Africa-based Kiwi Brands (Pty.) Ltd. and its subsidiaries, which had been divested in 1986 in response to economic sanctions imposed against South Africa. Kiwi Brands manufactures and markets consumer products such as bath and skin care items and shoe care products. Kiwi Brands Ltd. subsidiaries include Avroy Shlain Cosmetics (Pty.) Ltd., a direct marketer of skin care and personal care products; South African Hosiery Company; and Playtex, which manufactures and distributes intimate apparel. "We believe this is an appropriate time to re-enter the South African market based on the positive developments taking place from a social, political and economic perspective," Sara Lee states
