COSMETICS/TOILETRIES SHIPMENTS PREDICTED TO RISE 6.7% PER YEAR THROUGH 1997

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

COSMETICS/TOILETRIES SHIPMENTS PREDICTED TO RISE 6.7% PER YEAR THROUGH 1997, Cleveland, OH-based research firm Freedonia Group said n a recently released report on flavors and fragrances. The group projected that, in the U.S., shipments of cosmetics and toiletries from manufacturers will total $24.3 bil. by 1997. Cosmetics and toiletries gains will be driven by "continued strong growth in men's personal care products, an increasing focus on higher-value, upscale products and greater popularity of natural products (particularly shampoos) and dual-use products (shampoo/conditioner combinations)," the report states. Freedonia noted that the "natural" trend is expected to continue through 2002. The predictions in the report are made by an in-house analyst.
