LANCASTER GROUP USA's BECKER BECOMING CEO AND PRESIDENT while retaining his duties as chief operating officer for the Benckiser Group division, the company announced Dec. 7. The appointment is effective immediately. Norbert Becker, 46, is succeeding Richard Hartigan, who is leaving at the end of the year, the firm said, because of a shift in the "scope of responsibilities" held by Lancaster Group USA after the relocation of the Lancaster Group Worldwide marketing offices to New York in 1993 ("The Rose Sheet" May 3, In Brief). Hartigan served as president and CEO of the New York-based company since January 1991. Prior to that, he was with Estee Lauder, most recently as exec VP.
