This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

AD/PROMO "PUFFING" WILL BE TOPIC OF DEBATE at the July 28-Aug. 4 annual meeting of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws in Kansas City, MO. The commissioners, who represent all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, will discuss a proposal to revise the provisions of the Uniform Commercial Code regarding puffery statements on consumer products. The applicable provisions of the code define the "express warranty" given to a consumer by a manufacturer, marketer or advertiser and those product claims that establish a warranty.
