AAD on AHAs: American Academy of Dermatology's Chemical Peel Task Force is waiting for data from FDA's Consumer Cosmetics Adverse Reaction Hotline before it will release its guidelines on chemical peels. FDA said it still plans to have the hotline up and running later this summer. Originally slated for publication this year, the guidelines are now expected to be released in 1996. The guidelines will include the task force's findings on chemical peels, including the group's opinion that concentrations of alpha hydroxy acids used in consumer products are safe, with only minor side effects ("The Rose Sheet" March 6, p. 1)...
