LAUDER IMPLEMENTING SALES TRACKING SYSTEM FOR 80% OF U.S., CANADIAN points of sale through its management information systems (MIS), Estee Lauder reported in its Sept. 21 preliminary prospectus for an initial public offering. The system, which will track sell-through data on a weekly basis, is intended to help the company "coordinate more effectively its product development, manufacturing and marketing strategies" by providing Lauder with an "increased understanding" of consumer preferences, the firm explained. Lauder also is in the process of placing similar systems in "certain international markets."
