South Florida cargo theft: Florida Sens. Connie Mack (R) and Bob Graham (D) and Reps. Carrie Meek (D) and E. Clay Shaw (R) report in a Feb. 2 letter to Attorney General Janet Reno that unless "adequate funding" is allocated to the South Florida Cargo Theft Task Force, the Miami-area cargo industry will lose "significant business." The letter follows an April 25 correspondence to Reno in which the members of Congress praise the Attorney General for the establishment of the task force while emphasizing the need for money. The task force was established in November 1994 in an effort to cut down on the theft of goods in the Miami region ("The Rose Sheet" May 15, p. 5).
