PETA REQUESTS FTC INVESTIGATION OF GILLETTE ANIMAL TESTING STATEMENTS in a Feb. 21 letter to the Federal Trade Commission. Addressing comments made by Gillette in its 1994 report on animal testing and in consumer correspondence, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals argued that Gillette has engaged in "false, misleading, and deceptive" advertising in claiming, among other things, that FDA requires animal testing for cosmetics.
