The products contain the firm's exclusive Thermal Plankton extract. The eye cream provides a "visible reduction in fine lines and puffiness around the eye area," while the face and throat cream provides "a gentle tensing effect in the skin's surface," the company said. Biodefense SPF 15 Daily Defense Lotion includes a patented antioxidant formula "to effectively neutralize free radicals," and Thermal Plankton extract and natural plant oils to "protect, hydrate, and smooth" the skin's surface, Biotherm said. The creams are available in April, while the lotion goes on-counter in May in select Bullock's, Burdine's and Foley's doors. All three 1.7 oz. products are priced at $27.50 apiece...

ModiFace launches forecasting tool: Toronto-based virtual makeover firm introduces ShadeCast, a makeup sampling and forecasting tool based on behavioral tracking. ShadeCast is used in conjunction with iPhone application MakeUp, which allows consumers to virtually try on makeup in hundreds of shades from brands including Revlon, Cover Girl, Lancome and Clinique. ShadeCast offers 1,000 cosmetic shades from 40 brands and assigns a ShadeScore "to approximately position the [app's] hottest and most sampled color." ModiFace exec Nikkie Gatto likens the app to radio music playlists, helping consumers "looking to capture the current look, but also provide vital market intelligence to our retail channel partners," she says in Nov. 3 release.
