Ferragamo entering fragrance market with purchase of Ungaro scents from Chanel.

FERRAGAMO ENTERING FRAGRANCE MARKET WITH UNGARO SCENTS, through an agreement to purchase the Emanuel Ungaro SA fragrance trade-marks from the Paris-based prestige beauty care company Chanel, the Italian luxury goods house announced July 15. Chanel has held the rights to the Ungaro portfolio since 1983, when it formed the Societe Parfums Ungaro SARL division as an autonomous affiliate of Chanel to handle Ungaro's first fragrance introduction, Diva (1984). Terms of the Ferragamo/Chanel deal were not disclosed.
