HOUSE FDA REFORM MARKUP DELAYED TO ALLOW NEGOTIATIONS WITH ADMINISTRATION in a final effort to forge consensus legislation. House Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Thomas Bliley (R-Va.) already has met with HHS Secretary Shalala, and congressional and HHS staff began discussion of the Administration's concerns July 17. Mark-up of the legislation, which had been scheduled to begin during the week of July 15, has been delayed for two weeks until the last week of July, the Commerce Committee indicated.
