FDA endorses ICCVAM: FDA Office of Cosmetics and Colors Director John Bailey, PhD, voiced his support for the Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee for Validation of Alternative Methods' continued existence at CTFA's 1996 Scientific conference held Nov. 3-5 in Atlanta. "It's a good idea that ICCVAM continue to exist and act as a body that we work with to help us make sure that the science is good and to act like an advisory panel to different agencies." The inter-agency committee's charter expires after the group issues its report on validation and regulatory acceptance of alternatives to animal-testing, which is slated to come out in early 1997 ("The Rose Sheet" Sept. 30, p. 4).
