L'OREAL LAUNCHING TEC NI ART SALON STYLING LINE IN FEBRUARY: the line of five styling products, including two gels, a foam, a cream and a hair-spray, will ship to U.S. salons at the end of February for sale to consumers, L'Oreal Coiffure, Cosmair's professional hair care division, said. The Tec Ni Art collection is already available in Europe.

L'Oreal Coiffure developed Tec Ni Art to "maximize the creativity" of hairdressers and consumers who want to create "90s" hairstyles in "an undone sort of way," the company explained. L'Oreal Coiffure's other line available to consumers is Irradiance, a collection of products for colored hair. The company's professional products include Magirel haircoloring products.

Tec Ni Smooth smoothing creme "facilitates blow-drying, styling, and straightening" of "coarser, more resistant" hair types, according to L'Oreal. The "creamy, fluid gel" combines an "amphoteric polymer" that provides "light control and flexibility" with a silicone gum that softens hair and makes it easier to detangle, the company said.

Tec Ni Texx, a texturizing gel, employs a "resinous gum of vegetable origin" that adds texture, "softness and springiness" to the hair, L'Oreal Coiffure stated. Tec Ni Gloss high shine gel contains silicone and a cationic polymer. "Only a small amount is needed to provide remarkable, luminous shine," the company added.

Tec Ni Lift root volumizing foam is sprayed directly on the roots with an "innovative dispensing system." The foam gives "flexible, durable hold without stiffness" using a "conditioning cationic film-forming polymer" in combination with an "anionic polymer," the company said. Tec Ni Flexible hairspray is an aerosol with "micro-fine diffusion" that "dries rapidly without beading," to give strong hold without stiffness or residue, L'Oreal Coiffure said.

The Tec Ni Art line is color-coded to distinguish the products by their uses. A 4 oz. pink Tec Ni Smooth tube will cost $7.95. A 6.7 oz. green Tec Ni Texx pump will sell for $8.95, while an 11 oz. "greenish-yellow" Tec Ni Flexible and a 10 oz. Tec Ni Lift will sell for $11.95 apiece. A 1.7 oz. yellow-orange tube Tec Ni Gloss will cost $13.95.
