COSMETICS INDUSTRY SHOULD BE HEEDFUL OF FDA COMMISSIONER CHOICE, recognizing that FDA is "still the single most important federal regulatory agency for our industry," Peter Barton Hutt of the Washington, D.C. law firm Covington & Burling said at the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association's annual meeting in Boca Raton, Fla. Feb. 28. He noted that the industry was "very fortunate" under former FDA Commissioner David Kessler's tenure; in the six years he headed the agency, he "never once singled out our industry for attack nor focused on our cosmetic products.
