Executive Summary

Rep. Klug: Will not run for re-election in 1998. Congressman Scott Klug (R-Wis.) announced Feb. 23. In last year's congressional session, Klug sponsored the foods portion of the three-pronged House FDA reform package. The legislation included national uniformity language and a provision to reform the Delaney clause. The bill died in the Commerce Committee while committee members negotiated over the Delaney clause in the context of other food safety legislation. In the 105th Congress, FDA reform is still in negotiations "on a member level," Klug's office said. No bill has been has been submitted this session...
