DIAL BRAND REVENUES TOTAL $87.6 MIL. IN THIRD QUARTER, compared to $87.7 mil. in the prior-year period, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company reported Oct. 14. Despite flat sales, Dial brand unit volume grew 23% in the period with a 15.4% unit share of the soap market through the nine months, Chief Financial Officer Susan Riley said during a conference call with securities analysts. Within the brand, Dial's bar soap unit share also improved, up 14% since the second quarter, CEO Malcom Jozoff said. The increase is due in part to Dial's summer bar soap promotion and the firm's emphasis on the soap's Mountain Fresh-scented SKU, he stated.

ModiFace launches forecasting tool: Toronto-based virtual makeover firm introduces ShadeCast, a makeup sampling and forecasting tool based on behavioral tracking. ShadeCast is used in conjunction with iPhone application MakeUp, which allows consumers to virtually try on makeup in hundreds of shades from brands including Revlon, Cover Girl, Lancome and Clinique. ShadeCast offers 1,000 cosmetic shades from 40 brands and assigns a ShadeScore "to approximately position the [app's] hottest and most sampled color."
