OTC labeling minimum type size "sliding scale" for small packages supported by AARP.

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

OTC LABELING MINIMUM TYPE SIZE "SLIDING SCALE" SUPPORTED BY AARP for packages that cannot accommodate the 6-point minimum type size proposed by FDA as part of its OTC labeling overhaul effort in February. In Nov. 7 comments to the agency, the American Association of Retired Persons urges FDA to proceed with establishing a minimum 6-point type size for OTC drug labeling. However, if FDA decides to allow a 4.5-point type size for certain types of packages, the group suggests the agency "adopt a `sliding-scale' type-size minimum, which would increase the type size minimum as the available label space increases."
