Bath & Body Works: Sales for 1997 grew 40% to $1.06 bil., while operating profit rose 31%, making Intimate Brand's specialty bath chain its "fastest growing and highest profit margin business," the parent company announced Feb. 17. Fourth quarter sales rose 29% to $484.8 mil. During the year, Intimate Brands opened 171 new Bath and Body Works stores, for a total of 921, positioning the chain in a "dominant position in the specialty retail personal care industry," the firm said.
