(Chicago). The two Clairol brands shot up to the number two spot in IRI's conditioner rankings from sixth place in 1996, pushing down Helene Curtis' Suave and Salon Selectives brands, Alberto-Culver's Alberto VO5 and another BMS treatment brand, Infusium 23. In unit sales, the Bristol-Myers Squibb division's conditioners ranked fourth, with 19.7 mil. units sold and a 5.7% unit share (12 pieces equal 1 unit). Sales in the overall conditioner category grew 6.4% to $857.6 mil. in 1997.
