Executive Summary

SMITHKLINE ACQUIRES BIOGLASS BIOACTIVE CERAMIC RIGHTS FOR DENTIFRICES from Ridgefield, N.J.-based U.S. Biomaterials. Under the agreement, SmithKline Beecham would make initial and milestone payments totaling $12 mil., as well as pay royalties on sales of toothpaste products employing Bioglass, USB announced April 21. SmithKline would receive exclusive worldwide rights to use the bioactive ceramic material in certain oral care applications.
