IN NEW FUNDING for the agency's cosmetics operations in a recent letter to Senate Appropriations/Agriculture Subcommittee Chairman Thad Cochran (R-Miss.). In response to cuts to FDA's Office of Cosmetics & Colors budget, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) proposes an "additional $6 mil. in the FDA budget...be earmarked for the cosmetics program" located within the Center for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition. "A relatively modest investment will go a long way for consumer protection in this area," the senator argues.
