Under the acquisition agreement, Sarah Michaels (Stoughton, Mass.) will operate as Dial's wholly owned subsidiary and "cement [the company's] position as a leader in the fast-growing specialty bath and body category," Dial said. Privately held Sarah Michaels is the self-proclaimed "leader" in the bath and body market; the company generated $72 mil. in sales in 1997. Sarah Michaels markets 250 SKUs in mass market and chain drug doors, including Wal-Mart, Kmart, CVS and Walgreen's.
