PROCTER & GAMBLE's LAFLEY TO HEAD GLOBAL BEAUTY CARE under a restructuring program announced Sept. 9. As Global Beauty Care President, Allen Lafley becomes one of seven newly appointed global product category leaders responsible for product design, marketing and overall strategy in their respective areas, Chairman and CEO John Pepper reported during a same-day meeting with securities analysts. Lafley will also oversee worldwide beauty care R&D, product supply and information technology. P&G's 14 beauty care franchises include Cover Girl, Oil of Olay, Head & Shoulders and Secret. Lafley will assume his role as a global business unit leader Jan. 1, reporting to newly appointed President and CEO Durk Jager.
