Executive Summary
The continuing investigation on the safety of the cosmetics ingredient diethanolamine is expected to be finished sometime next year. FDA and the Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance Association will both conduct individual skin penetration studies on DEA. Assays are expected to commence in the near future. The groups have agreed to coordinate efforts by sharing information from the studies.
