Executive Summary

Coty opens fragrance and cosmetics manufacturing facility in Pudong, China, the company announced Oct. 22. Coty entered a joint-venture agreement with Chinese journalist Yue-Sai Kan to bring the number one Yue Sai Chinese beauty brand into the U.S. market in 1996 and broke ground on the 30,000 sq. ft. plant a year later ("The Rose Sheet" June 16, 1997, In Brief). The facility is equipped to manufacture 60 mil. units annually, including color cosmetics, "high-tech" moisturizers, skin toners, hair mascara and long-lasting lipsticks. The deal will help Coty "take the lead in emerging economies throughout Asia and the world," the firm said
