This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

Schering-Plough clarifies certain points made in the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association's April 15 petition for a stay of the sunscreen final monograph. The Coppertone manufacturer also clarifies CTFA's statement that UVA protection "may be the most important factor in preventing skin cancer caused by the sun" by stating the majority of medical literature has found that "while UVA likely contributes to skin cancer, the primary causative wavelengths are in the UVB range"
