Executive Summary
Cosmetics company acquires nine Bristol-Myers Squibb Japanese salon brands, including DeAge, Salon Formula and Waves, after several weeks of negotiations. The deal will strengthen Shiseido's salon hair color business in Japan while allowing BMS to focus on its other consumer businesses in the region, which include salon professional products as well as consumer brands such as Keri lotion, Herbal Essences, Clairol and Matrix. 5S: Shiseido opens its 5S West Coast flagship store in Santa Monica Oct. 28.
