Hydrience hair care sales up 9% to $24 mil. in the first quarter FY 2000, BMS announces April 20. Nice 'N Easy, which generated a 4% sales increase to $48 mil., contributed to BMS' 3% increase in hair color sales. Herbal Essences, which had been registering double- and triple-digit increases, slipped 5% to $151 mil. The quarter appears to mark the first Herbal Essences sales downturn since the venerable hair care line was relaunched. Aussie brand generated $32 mil. in sales, a 10% increase over the year-ago period. Overall beauty care sales were down 4%
