Executive Summary
Chanel and TriStrata settle alpha hydroxy acid patent infringement lawsuit in Wilmington, Del. federal court, parent company NeoStrata announces Aug. 16. TriStrata, which owns 70 patents protecting its alpha hydroxy acid technology, filed suit in 1996 after discovering Chanel and a number of other companies were allegedly using TriStrata's AHAs without a licensing agreement. The court later upheld the validity of five of the patents (1"The Rose Sheet" Aug. 30, 1999, p. 6). Settlements also have been reached with Leiner Health Products and Beiersdorf (2"The Rose Sheet" Nov. 22, 1999, In Brief). Cases are pending against Clarins, Murad, L'Oreal and Neoteric
