Recently-launched skin care products led growth in the $1.7 bil. prestige category with new product purchases representing 10% of skin care sales, up from 6% in 1998 and 8% in 1999, according to an NPD BeautyTrends report on annual department store beauty sales. Estee Lauder Idealist Skin Refinisher was the top-selling anti-aging product and the fourth-ranking skin care item during the year, the report says.
