Executive Summary
Skin care will be most important component of The Foundation cosmetics department debuting March 28 in retailer's Madison Ave. store, Exec VP Judy Collinson says. Exclusive skin care brands available in the department will include Sjal, Somme Institute and Laboratoire Nuxe. Cosmetics division also will be expanded with exclusive launches from by Terry, Carita and Molton Brown. Additional brands making their Barneys debut are Kanebo, Chantecaille, Yves Saint Laurent and Versace. Twice the size of Barneys' current beauty department, The Foundation was designed by Barneys in-house team and Kramer Design to emulate French emporiums of the 1920's, firm says.
