Wella's Cosmopolitan Cosmetics subsidiary acquired Italian luxury fragrance and cosmetics business Atkinsons for $42.4 mil. (€1=$.96), German company announces Aug. 2. Cosmopolitan Cosmetics acquired Atkinsons from Unilever Italia's Lever Faberge subsidiary. Atkinsons, which generated sales of $35.7 mil. in 2001, markets fragrance, bath and skin care brand I Coloniali, which accounts for nearly 50% of sales, as well as men's fragrance brands English Lavender and Gold Medal. Atkinsons products are sold in Europe, Asia and the U.S., but Wella says it will use the "international infrastructure" of Cosmopolitan Cosmetics to expand international distribution of the brand...
