Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment's Science Advisory Board will assess whether phenol has been shown to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity through "scientifically valid testing" during Oct. 16 meeting in Sacramento, Calif., agency says. Two-stage carcinogenicity tests showed phenol has promoting activity, according to a draft hazard identification document issued by OEHHA in July.
