Department store retailer will convert all regional department stores to the Macy's name beginning in January, Federated announces Sept. 13. Name change does not apply to firm's Bloomingdale's stores but will affect Burdines-Macy's in Florida, Bon-Macy's in the Pacific Northwest, Goldsmith-Macy's in Tennessee, Lazarus-Macy's in the Midwest and Rich's-Macy's in the Southeast. Effort aims to "maximize the potential" of Macy's through "distinctive, consistent and far-reaching marketing initiatives," firm notes. Move also enables Federated to develop better relationships with vendors, expand its own private brands and improve expense efficiencies over time, company adds.
