Consumer products company may be interested in acquiring certain Gillette brands from Procter & Gamble, Chairman, CEO and President Gerry Rubin says during Roth Capital Partners 17th Annual Growth Stock Conference Feb. 22. Helen of Troy "is certainly on their list to look at and possibly buy any of those brands that P&G wants to sell," according to Rubin. P&G announced the $57 bil. acquisition of Gillette in January (1"The Rose Sheet" Jan 31, 2005, p. 3). The firm may need to divest overlapping oral care or deodorant brands to gain regulatory clearance. Helen of Troy has previously purchased brands from P&G, including Clairol's Sea Breeze, Final Net hair spray, Condition 3-in-1 hair care products and Vitalis men's hair tonic. Rubin also projected revenues for fiscal 2005 (ending Feb. 28) will be $574 mil., up 21%, and net income is expected to be in the $76 mil.-$79.3 mil. range...
