In a move to expand its personal care presence, Blistex has acquired Glysomed, a line of hand and body products in the U.S., from SL-Special Laboratories, the company announces March 2. Acquisition of the U.S. business extends Blistex' purchase of Glysomed in Canada last year. Glysomed is one of the best selling hand creams on the market in Canada and has grown to include a number of hand and body care formulas, according to the company. Sold at mass market and drug stores, the brand entered the U.S. market in 2003. Acquisition offers "new opportunities to combine growth programs across North America on Glysomed, but also in combination with existing lip and skin care brands," Blistex says.
