Consumer business sales in the Americas declined 3.4% at current exchange rates to $172.8 mil. in the first half due to a difficult comparison to the same period last year, when high sales of re-launched Nivea Visage products were recorded, Beiersdorf says in interim report released May 12. Revenue from La Prairie in the region, however, "increased significantly," firm reports. Consumer EBIT in the Americas was down 5.1% to $7.62 mil. Net consumer sales were flat at $1.26 bil., due to a difficult comparison with the prior year, when a number of new products were launched in the first half, Beiersdorf notes, adding there are new launches slated for the second half of the year which are anticipated to boost sales.
