Executive Summary
Razors and blades sales for the second quarter (ended March 31) increased 7% over the prior-year period to $234.4 mil., firm reports April 24. New products launched during the quarter - such as Quattro Disposable in the U.S. and Intuition Plus in Europe - contributed approximately $18 mil. in sales, company adds. The razors and blades business also held share globally "while substantially improving profit, all despite significant competitive activity," CEO Ward M. Klein says. Energizer's net sales advanced 16.1% to $730.9 mil. Looking forward, Klein notes that although he expects difficult comparisons and higher advertising and promotions in the third quarter, "we feel comfortable with the underlying fundamentals for the second half of the year"...
