Colgate-Palmolive gets new CEO

Executive Summary

Former Chief Operating Officer Ian Cook is now Colgate-Palmolive president and CEO and a member of the company's board of directors, firm announces in a July 2 release. Cook replaces Reuben Mark, who is retiring after 23 years at the CEO post. The change, which went into effect July 1, is in line with the company's previously announced succession plan (1"The Rose Sheet" Feb. 27, 2007, p. 10). Cook joined Colgate in the U.K. in 1976 and went on to progress through a series of senior management roles before being named COO in select regions in 2004 and COO of all global Colgate operations in 2005. "For the past three years, he has worked closely with other Colgate leaders to develop and implement the business strategy that is now so successful," firm notes. Mark will remain chairman of the company's board for a period of up to 18 months...
