NPA to define “natural”

Executive Summary

Natural Products Association work group chaired by Mike Indursky, chief marketing officer at Burt's Bees, aspires to craft a standard definition for the word "natural" as it applies to cosmetics, health and beauty care within a year, according to a July 21 release. "There has already been a strong foundation laid for use of this term," Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., NPA's VP-scientific and regulatory affairs, states. "With active participation by the work group and outreach we are certain to arrive at a definition that industry and others will embrace." Other participants in the work group include Aubrey Organics and Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps. Formation of the work group was announced in May (1"The Rose Sheet" May 28, 2007, p. 3)...
