Executive Summary
Federal Office of Management and Budget is requesting $513.5 mil. for fiscal 2009 to support salaries and expenses of Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, including cost of cosmetics oversight. Cosmetics office enhanced its Voluntary Cosmetic Registration Program in fiscal 2007 and says it continues to provide industry training on the initiative. Office also is collaborating with University of Maryland to develop guidance for the use of nanotechnology in cosmetic products and giving presentations on nanotech-related research at trade society and scientific meetings.
