EPA Nanoscale Materials Stewardship Program

Executive Summary

Environmental Protection Agency is calling on manufacturers, importers, processors and users to report information about the human health and environmental risks and benefits of nanoscale chemical products as part of its Nanoscale Materials Stewardship Program, announced Jan. 6. Agency will evaluate the information it receives in order to help ensure the safe use and manufacture of nanoscale materials. Program "will provide a firmer scientific foundation for assessing the hazards, exposures, and risks of chemical nanoscale materials and making appropriate risk management decisions," Charlie Auer, director of EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, notes in a statement.
