Ex-Firmenich employee Michael Kocher has been appointed senior VP-innovation scent & care; position has been created to integrate fragrance and cosmetics research, global marketing, and consumer & market intelligence arms of business under one umbrella and to "orient them towards innovation," Symrise says. As of May 1, Massimo Cealti is VP-consumer & market intelligence; Cealti's 20 years of experience includes market research and consumer insight positions for Nestlé, Coca Cola and McDonald's, firm notes. Meanwhile, Béatrice Favre-Bulle, previously head of evaluation for Personal Care EAME (Europe, Africa, Middle East), has assumed senior VP-fragrance development post, created "to ensure optimal use of the company's creative potential and skills, to establish global standards for fragrance development and to promote an inspiring 'fragrance culture' throughout the organization." Noting that "innovation also means examining new business models and identifying potential acquisitions and partnerships," Symrise has named Roberto Ascoli, previously head of sales in France and director of the Beauty Care Creative Center in Paris, to senior VP-new business development in Scent & Care unit...

Lauder loses one, adds another: Group President Philip Shearer has resigned from Estee Lauder to pursue other opportunities, firm says. Shearer's direct reports now will report to CEO William Lauder until incoming President and Chief Operating Officer Fabrizio Freda arrives in March. In a recent release, CEO Lauder states: "Philip has done a wonderful job over the past six years, initially leading our international business and more recently heading up the Clinique, Origins, Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, and Ojon brands, as well as our online business."
