With launch of new eco-friendly compact, company launches Mary Kay Compact Recycling Drive. Compact features innovative refill system expected to eliminate 60 million units of packaging and cut back on more than 60,000 tons of carbon emissions, according to June 16 release. Consumers are invited to turn in previous Mary Kay compacts to Independent Beauty Consultants or by going to 1www.marykay.com. For every compact returned, company will plant a tree in Montana and Idaho's Bitterfoot National Forest, with the goal of planting an entire forest. Mary Kay Compact, available "with 18 million possible color combinations," features sheer pressed powder, eye color, cheek color, bronzing and highlighting powders, and lip colors.
