NaTrue certifies first 100 products

Executive Summary
Belgian firm has certified 100 products to its natural and organic cosmetics standards, firm says Feb. 20. Products now carrying the label include items from Weleda, Primavera and Logona. Applications began to be accepted in September 2008 after the criteria were released in May of last year. NaTrue was founded in January 2008 with the goal of working with European trade organizations to develop a common standard for natural and organic cosmetics (1"The Rose Sheet" Jan. 7, 2008, p. 4). The group now is collaborating with California firm QAI to create a framework for mutual recognition of products in compliance with both NaTrue's criteria and NSF International's newly released "Made with Organic" standard
