IFRA and transparency

This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

By Dec. 31, 2009, the International Fragrance Association will publish on its Web site (1www.ifraorg.org) a list of fragrance ingredients incorporated in consumer goods, the association reports Aug. 5. The list of substances will be compiled from the IFRA 2008 Use Survey. "To support our goal of increased transparency, we have determined that publishing an alphabetized list of fragrance ingredients would be helpful when communicating the industry's extensive safety program," says IFRA Director General Pierre Houri. The effort supplements the association's safety program, based on IFRA's Code of Practice, which prohibits members from using fragrance materials in consumer goods if there is any known safety concern to human health or the environment
