J&J/Aveeno "upcycling": Recognizing that some packaging materials are not accepted by many recycling municipalities, Johnson & Johnson has partnered with Trenton, N.J.-based TerraCycle, offering consumers the chance to reduce their carbon footprint and "give new life" to used tubes of Aveeno sun-, facial-, baby- and body-care products by shipping them, free of charge, to TerraCycle for "upcycling." Aveeno packaging will be remade into new products available for purchase at major retailers nationwide, in same way company converts Capri Sun drink pouches into tote bags and pencil cases and Clif Bar wrappers into holiday bows. Aveeno will acknowledge the efforts of "Beauty Brigade" members by donating $0.02 for each tube received to the non-profit or school of their choice. "We continue to look for ways to improve our eco-conscious practices, from how we source ingredients and packaging materials, to reducing waste and resources needed for product transport. It's through our collaboration with partners like TerraCycle that makes it possible for us to expand our commitment to sustainability, giving back to the community and improving our environment," Aveeno's Michael Marquis, brand product director, states
