Doc opens Youth Corridor: Plastic surgeon Gerald Imber, author of "The Youth Corridor: A Renowned Surgeon's Revolutionary Program For Maintenance, Rejuvenation and Timeless Beauty," introduces Youth Corridor skin care. "Cornerstone" of the line is Antioxidant Boost Skin Serum, formulated with vitamins C and E and melatonin based on research suggesting that the ingredients in combination are "far more effective than vitamin C or E alone or any two in combination." Lipophilic melatonin helps other antioxidants penetrate through skin's keratinized layer for maximum impact, according to Jan. 7 release. "Vitamin C is crucial for healthy, beautiful skin, but if it can't get in, it can't work," says Dr. Imber, assistant clinical professor of surgery at the Weill-Cornell School of Medicine in New York. Antioxidant Boost Skin Serum can be purchased online for $145. Other items available at YouthCorridor.com include peptide-powered Rejuvenating Eye Cream ($85) and Gentle Moisturizer with Green Tea ($35)

ModiFace launches forecasting tool: Toronto-based virtual makeover firm introduces ShadeCast, a makeup sampling and forecasting tool based on behavioral tracking. ShadeCast is used in conjunction with iPhone application MakeUp, which allows consumers to virtually try on makeup in hundreds of shades from brands including Revlon, Cover Girl, Lancome and Clinique. ShadeCast offers 1,000 cosmetic shades from 40 brands and assigns a ShadeScore "to approximately position the [app's] hottest and most sampled color." ModiFace exec Nikkie Gatto likens the app to radio music playlists, helping consumers "looking to capture the current look, but also provide vital market intelligence to our retail channel partners," she says in Nov. 3 release. "The value of data to demonstrate the aggregate behavior will help the industry predict the latest trends and help cosmetic manufacturers better understand the color and products which most resonate with online and iPhone virtual makeover users," the company says
